All the Pretty Little Horses é uma tradicional canção de embalar e foi originalmente composta por uma escrava para adormecer os filhos do seu amo e, assim, poder estar algum tempo com os seus próprios bardajecos.
Esta música foi adoptada por muitos artistas, nomeadamente o grupo folk Peter, Paul & Mary (Hush a bye, 1963). Também Nick Cave já lhe emprestou a voz (num albúm do grupo Current 93, 1996).
O que proponho hoje são três versões muito especiais e emocionantes: Calexico, Shawn Colvin e The Chieftains com Patty Griffin.
